Charlie Hodgson Bought the full LP a while back and thought I'd get this EP too. Bit of a more raw sound but still a great listen. Favorite track: Texas Freeze.

xaukothebadd punchy vocals in a pleasing tone fuels these grooves. Strong musical talent. Dancing might occur.

Steve Blues influenced heavy rock is the music closest to my soul. This debut hits the mark. The guitar work is absolutely scorching, drums and bass laying killer grooves. "Only" 4 songs but ACH one is smokin' in its own way. Bass line intro to "Double Vision"... damn!!!🤘 Favorite track: Double Vision.

Texas Freeze 05:22
West Virginia coal, keep rollin down that hill Said West Virginia coal, keep rollin down that hill Don’t know where it’s goin, but I know it’s gonna kill Gotta keep the lights a’glowin, make another dollar bill It’s freezin’ down in Texas, and it’s blazin’ in the west Said it’s freezin’ down in Texas, and it’s blazin’ in the west Hurricane’s a’comin’, I can feel it in my chest Rich men goin to Mars, to Hell with all the rest Gotta get out of the city, before it’s underneath the sea Gotta get out of the city, before it’s underneath the sea Never learned to swim, the tide’s coming in for me Set sail in New Jersey, and end up in Tennessee Well I’m goin’ down to Texas, gonna freeze my ass to death Said I’m goin’ down to Texas, gonna freeze my ass to death Can’t afford a trip to Mars, guess I’m stuck with all the rest Rather chill in Amarillo, than burn up in Los Angeles

Secure my passage, to inner lands Break the restraints, to the hour hand I’m the conductor, of my own mind Receive enlightenment, all in due time   I’m digging deeper, than I’ve ever been Somebody pull me, back up again   Embrace the nothingness, follow the arc Dancing on the table, crying in the dark I’ve seen the faces, drawn in the sand I’ve seen the prophecy, written on my hands   I’m digging deeper, than I’ve ever been Somebody pull me, back up again

It’s been a long hard year, and I’ve been patiently waiting Neon lights, shine above the door It’s been a long hard day, and I’ve been biding my time I can hardly wait, to see what’s in store Please forgive my bad behavior Haven’t seen one like you in a while Please excuse my lack of manners I think I’ve forgotten how to smile Took you for granted, but never again Oh sweet lady, I think I’ve seen you before Don’t you remember? It was just last winter How perfect you were, at keepin’ me warm Please forgive my bad behavior Haven’t seen one like you in a while Please excuse my lack of manners I think I’ve forgotten how to smile

On the backs of sleeping giants Or on the backside of my hand Am I the son of David? Or am I the son of Sam? Lift you up Just to break you down Lead you to oasis Just to let you drown I’ll build a cult around my image And turn a house of cards to gold I’ll promise you the Last Supper And leave you chewing stones Lift you up Just to break you down Lead you to oasis Just to let you drown

about

Written and recorded in the summer of 2021 in Willow Glen Studio (aka Eric's living room) for very little money and a vague idea what we were doing.

"Northern Burden is a wonderful debut release from Black Tongue Reverend. It’s the embodiment of grit. It’s goddamned terrific."
nippertown.com/2022/03/14/album-review-black-tongue-reverends-debut-northern-burden/

"A good debut EP for this band that offers a granite sound that mixes Heavy Psych with Blues, passing through Stoner, managing to bring the atmosphere of the past into a modern and personal context."
